Who I am

Hi! My name is Andy Smith and this is my website, it's nice to meet you! I am a photographer specialising in landscape photography, but I also take nature and street style images. My blog contains photography tips, stories about my own adventures and some rambling for good measure. Feel free to grab a coffee and have a look around, or continue reading my story below...

Ok great you decided to stay, how nice! Well, my photography journey starts with both my Granddad and Dad, both of whom had cameras. I was artistic from a very young age as my parents got me into playing the violin. This led me

to performing in front of people for the first time in an orchestra. As I got older I moved from instrument to instrument, eventually settling on guitar around 13 years old. I played in bands and wrote music, and really loved the sense of creating something which lasts.

Fast forward to university where I started DJing and producing electronic music under the name Lojik. I received a certain amount of recognition for my music which led me to performing all over the country and even into Europe. I was still able to create, and have people appreciate my work, but after 9 years I got to the point where I no longer wanted to be going out all the time, so I decided to stop taking gigs.

This brings us to 2017 when I bought my first camera on a whim....a Nikon D3300. I immediately fell in love with photography. The sense of creation was still there, as well as the feeling of great calm when out in the landscape by myself. This is what I really love about photography, and the fact that I'm able to create some images which other people enjoy is fantastic. So here I am, this is my website, and I hope you enjoy what you see!
